Anechoic Chambers

IAC UK is a leading global specialist in the design, manufacture and installation of anechoic test chambers. At IAC, we understand the impact of noise legislation and environmental regulations on your business and products. That’s why we take time to understand your acoustic test requirements before recommending an acoustic test facility to suit your needs. Our acoustic design engineers work with you to provide the right anechoic test facility, with the appropriate choice of anechoic wedges.

At IAC, we design, manufacture and install anechoic test facilities that range in size from mini-anechoic chambers, measuring as little as 1m in diameter, to very large ones. One of the largest, was a hemi-anechoic chamber built for FG Wilson in 2007 with a diameter of over 20 metres! We also design and construct environmental, ‘shake and rattle’ and hot engine test facilities. Regardless of whether you’re developing the latest fuel efficient engine or a brand new household appliance, IAC can help you with your anechoic testing requirements.

Since 1949, IAC have designed, developed and installed the following types of acoustic controlled environments:

Our anechoic test facilities comply with the most stringent environmental requirements. All IAC anechoic test facilities exhibit technical compliance with international standards, including ISO 3745 and ISO 3744. Whether you require a purpose built anechoic test chamber or use a university or research facility provided by IAC, you would always find the same high standard of quality.

Anechoic Test Chambers

Our anechoic test chambers provide an acoustically controlled environment with guaranteed acoustic performance. We test and prove your acoustic performance criteria in our laboratories.

IAC specialise in constructing anechoic test facilities with no interference from external sources – not even air ventilation units. These controlled environments encompass a wide range of performance specifications from simple quality control requirements to elaborate high precision acoustic measurements.

We offer you a comprehensive service from feasibility, design, development, construction, testing and installation. We can also review your existing acoustic testing facility and make recommendations that will improve the performance and efficiency of your current anechoic chamber.

As part of our complete turnkey service, IAC guarantee the acoustic performance of all anechoic test rooms we build. All our anechoic test facilities comply with current international standards, including ISO 3745 and ISO 3744.

Key Technical Information

Acoustic technical facilities vary from installation to installation; however, most anechoic rooms come equipped with the following features:

  • Anechoic glass-fibre wedges with required low-frequency cut-offs.
  • Double or single-wall and ceiling construction
  • IAC Tranquil-Aire® Ventilation Systems – coupled to building supply.
  • Lighting, interior – minimally acoustically reflective.
  • Tubular cable ports.
  • Interior non-reflective cable floor above floor wedges for fully anechoic rooms. Nylon catch net below the cable floor.
  • IAC Acousti-Flote Floor system spring and rubber vibration isolators for some fully anechoic rooms.
  • One clear opening Noise-Lock Wedge Door.
