Housing ‘boom’ eliminated

The recent boom in the housing market for city centre apartments has led to an innovation in attenuator design at IAC Limited, a global leader in the sector.

IAC has developed a special ventilation attenuator to be used when whole house ventilation is utilised. Ian Stones, Sales Manager at our Warrington office explains: “The problem occurs in dwellings with whole house ventilation and extraction fans in kitchens, bathrooms and sometimes even bedrooms as well. In these situations noise from the busy roads, railways and trains outside, enters the apartment through the ducting system. Whilst people want all the convenience and leisure opportunities city centre living has to offer, they don’t want the noise it brings with it.”

IAC has developed a special attenuator measuring 210mm wide x 65mm high to fit the ductwork to eliminate the noise ingress. The length of the attenuator depends on noise levels outside the building.

Since its introduction this product is proving popular with specifiers and contractors keen to improve the domestic appeal of their urban developments. Five apartment buildings in Manchester, one in Eccles, and another in Leeds have been completed successfully and demand is growing.
