IAC Launch Absorbatone® – A New Range of Foam Sound Absorption Panels
IAC has launched a new range of acoustic absorption panels to complement their existing range of rugged perforated steel modules. Absorbatone® panels are an exciting concept in wall absorbers specifically designed for installation in schools, theatres, consulting rooms, boardrooms, sports and community halls, cinemas, interview rooms and hearing screening facilities.
Absorbatone® panels can be used for most internal applications where reverberation times need to be reduced. Typically this is in areas where there are large open spaces with high ceilings or where speech intelligibility needs to be increased in applications such as schools and medical consulting rooms.
The panels combine clean modern aesthetics with excellent sound absorption properties. Offered in two different thicknesses, the 25mm or 50mm panels are available in a range of standard sizes, or can be used as a complete wall covering solution. The 25mm panels have an acoustic rating of NRC 0.75 (Class C) whilst the 50mm panels have a rating of NRC 0.95 (Class A). Both thicknesses of Absorbatone® acoustic panels comply with the requirements of BB93 for use within schools and public buildings to control echo and reverberation times.
The fabric finish of Absorbatone® panels complies with the requirements of Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame when tested to BA476: Part 7: 1987 while the foam interior meets the Class O requirements of the building regulations when tested to BS476 Part 6 1981 and Part 7 1987. Weighing only 0.67kg per square metre (25mm think panels), Absorbatone® acoustic panels can be easily fixed to walls and ceilings using either high tack adhesive or magnetic strips, requiring no drilling or additional fixings, saving time during installation.
Jason Saunders, Architectural Business Manager for IAC Limited said: “Absorbatone® is a product which offers a cost effective solution to improving the reverberation times within rooms, corridors and open spaces. Complementing our popular and successful range of heavy-duty tuning modules, this product enables IAC to offer a complete solution to treating tricky acoustics within public buildings, retail outlets, offices, educational establishments and studios.”
