September IAC America to build large turnkey test facility for Cummins in USA

IAC America has recently been awarded a contract for Cummins in the USA, for the design, delivery and installation of a substantial state-of-the-art Acoustic Test Facility - and on 17 August the team ‘broke ground’.

Dubbed “Project Sonitus” (the Latin word ‘sonitus’ means noise or sound) this Hemi-Anechoic Test Facility is for Cummins Power Generation in Fridley, Minnesota.

The 1 million cubic foot facility includes: a large Hemi-Anechoic Chamber; a Reverberation Room; a Test Cell; a Prep Area; a Control Room; a Conference Centre and a Mechanical Equipment Room. The facility is designed to meet the testing requirements for the current range of machines at Cummins and includes capabilities for the development and test of the next generation of machines. The design is environmentally friendly and meets all community noise control standards. The facility is scheduled for completion in early Q3 2011.

This is an exciting opportunity in particular because IAC is the ‘design-builder’. Together, IAC and Cummins are two global leaders working together to make the world a quieter place!

Cummins Inc., a global power leader, is a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service engines and related technologies, including fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission solutions and electrical power generation systems. Headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, Cummins serves customers in approximately 190 countries and territories through a network of more than 500 company-owned and independent distributor locations and approximately 5,200 dealer locations.
