THE NOISE DOWN AT NORWICH NIGHTCLUB

Acoustics Company (IAC), world leaders in noise control solutions, are
keeping the party going at a nightclub in Norwich! The manager
of Mercy Nightclub contacted IAC knowing that, should noise emitted from
the club exceed a given level, the local Environmental Health department
could prevent the late license from being granted.
Working within a tight time frame and in compliance with
various building preservation directives, IAC supplied and fitted five,
54dB, double-leaf acoustic door sets.
Three of the five high performance doors were positioned
in emergency escape areas, each with integrated emergency escape panic
hardware. These backed onto the dance floor and were the only sound barrier
to the outside. The remaining two double doors were installed side-by-side
complete with a central mullion and overhead panels, all of which provided
a very high level of sound attenuation, typically 50dB overall.

job was a fairly straightforward one for us, although we were working
against the clock. The doors themselves were standard, but their frames
required modification to fit into the existing building structure. There
were also certain regulations we had to comply with as well because the
nightclub was actually a conversion and refurbishment of an old cinema.
Party lovers in Norwich will be pleased, I know, - I think the party’s
still going on!”
