Trevor Baylis OBE to present IOA/IAC Young Persons’ Award
Trevor Baylis OBE, inventor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist of wind-up radio fame, will present the IOA’s ‘Young Persons’ Award for Innovation in Acoustical Engineering’ in October next year.
Brian Quarendon, CEO of the Award’s sponsor IAC Limited, said: "We are delighted that Trevor has accepted our invitation to preside at the Award giving dinner. His reputation goes before him as a talented engineer and an ambassador for British inventiveness. A lively speaker, I’m sure conference dinner attendees are in for an enjoyable occasion."
Trevor was awarded the Presidential Gold Medal of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for services to engineering in 1998 and is an active champion of British inventiveness and promoter of the protection of ‘intellectual property’. He will speak briefly on this subject at the Award Dinner. The Award is a bid to recognise the contribution of British Acoustical engineers to industry.
The Award, from the Institute of Acoustics, is open for entries until 30 March. Entrants are considered ‘young’ if you under the age of 35 at 30 March, or have worked for fewer than 5 years in the industry.
