The Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO) awarded IAC Aviation the contract to refurbish their fleet of 3 Gem engine test cells. Each of the complete modular facilities was removed from site and stripped completely at IAC’s factory in Winchester.

Every single component was inspected, and either fully refurbished or replaced to ensure future serviceability. At the heart of the project was the replacement of the manual instrumentation system for a new state-of-the-art IAC Aquarius Data Acquisition System, which when fully commissioned provided the customer with an added bonus by reducing engine test time by 50%.

Independently accredited

As well as meeting the strict engine cross-calibration criteria stipulated by Rolls-Royce for both Gnome and RTM322 engines, the DARA facility provided by IAC has been praised by aviation experts.
