IAC AVIATION
PROVIDES TURNKEY TURBOJET TEST FACILITY FOR H+S AVIATION
IAC
Aviation is nearing completion of a bespoke turnkey turbofan test facility
for Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D engine variants for H+S Aviation.
The complete post-overhaul
and post-repair engine testing facility has full acoustic treatment to
protect the local community from noise pollution. The project included
a thrust stand, all-facility and engine control and instrumentation, and
an automatic data acquisition suite. The full range of support services
include fuel systems, fire suppression, compressed air supplies, and CCTV,
and a data link into PWC data reduction software that delivers full engine
performance analysis.
The contract, awarded at Christmas 2004, will have taken
just 10 months to complete for the end of October this year.
H+S Aviation offers
extensive maintenance repair and overhaul services on a variety of powerplants
for corporate, civil, and military applications from its facilities in
Portsmouth, UK. H+S Aviation is acknowledged as one of the world's leading
independent repair and overhaul organisations handling small to medium-sized
turbine engines, processing more than 800 repair and overhaul engine workscopes
per year. With over 50 years’ experience, H+S provides fully OEM-authorised
services on General Electric CT7 and T700, Rolls-Royce Dart and Model
250 turboprop/turboshaft engines, Honeywell 36-100/150, 331-200/250, and
Pratt & Whitney Canada PW901 APUs and JT15D turbofan engines.
Kurt Buehler is Operations Director with H+S Aviation:
"This new cell stands out among our five test cells in Portsmouth
due to the completeness of IAC's service and implementation. Our proximity
to local housing means that noise and environmental considerations are
critical to successful operations. We are delighted with the overall results
and are able to scheduling an extension of our testing hours and respond
better to our customers’ needs for timely project completion.
"The new cell
provides us with an efficient tool for testing thrust engines and has
been designed with the consideration of quickly adding new, higher power
products in the future."
IAC Aviation has now been commissioned to upgrade the
company's fire suppression and fuel supply systems for H+S’ existing
test cells.
Claire Fawlk, Sales Manager at IAC Aviation said: "This
project has proved to be one that really shows our capabilities to the
full as a turnkey solution provider. Our ability to provide in-service
support, maintenance and calibration for all H+S facilities is clearly
an additional attraction. We hope for a mutually fruitful relationship
in the longer term."
