Jet Blast Deflectors / Jet Wake Barriers
lAC designs, manufactures and installs high performance Jet Blast Deflectors / Jet Wake Barriers for a wide range of airport solutions including aircraft maneuvering areas and perimeters.
IAC Global Aviation jet engine blast deflectors reduce the damaging and dangerous effects of aircraft engine blast by means of deviation and reduction of the high velocity of gases, air and heat.
Jet Blast Deflectors / Jet Wake Barriers are in use at airports around the world protecting roadways, pathways, airport buildings, perimeters and adjacent aircraft areas from the effect of aircraft engine exhaust.
Solid Faced Jet Blast Deflector
IAC Global Aviation has recently launched a new, solid faced barrier which utilises the same technologies as the Jetshield™ and Aerowall™ components in IAC’s new Ground Run-up Enclosure. The new design increases the aerodynamic performance, making it a more effective protection system for higher thrust levels. This new barrier is a very cost effective solution, despite being manufactured from high quality corrosion and anti-FoD components. The new system has enhanced flexibility and is available in different sizes to cater for any aircraft, both civil and military.
Mesh Faced Jet Blast Deflectors
IAC’s mesh faced barrier is available in the approved aeronautical colours of red and white. This is in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) guidelines. IAC mesh faced jet blast barriers have also been independently certified by INTA. The barrier is of galvanized steel construction for long life, and has an aesthetic slim line appearance. The standard blast deflector face is inclined at 30º and is 3 metres high. The barriers fix directly to the ground or mount onto concrete blocks that are easy to move by forklift truck.
IAC mesh faced Jet Blast Deflectors / Jet Wake Barriers will operate effectively in wind speeds of at least 130 km/h. The special grills divert the jet blast and spread it upward at an angle of between 60º and 80º. This upward deviation of the blast entrains additional slow moving air in the upper region of the blast flow, which both cools and decelerates the jet blast.
The barrier is modular in design and as such is reusable, easy to relocate and extend.

Fixed or Mobile Jet Blast Barriers
IAC offers two different types of Jet Blast Deflector / Jet Wake Barrier:
MobileJet Blast Barriers Mobile blast barriers are among the first type of aero-engine noise control systems ever produced. Fitted with retractable wheels they are easy to deploy; an integrated hydraulic lift system ensures centre-line alignment.
A mobile blast barrier can silence the exhaust noise from a turbo aircraft jet engine running on the ground by around 20 to 30 db(A). The mobile barrier is simply wheeled it into position behind the jet pipe of the selected engine. Attenuators can be used on their own or in multiples as required by the aircraft type.
Fixed Jet Blast Barriers lAC designs and manufactures a range of fixed attenuator systems for use with civil or military aircraft. These fixed attenuators generally provide a higher degree of exhaust attenuation than the mobile units do. Acoustic screens fit around the outer skin of a specified aircraft thereby reducing exhaust noise breakout.
Barrier Options We can also provide the latest CAA approved red warning lights that are visible for 360º around and 270º upwards. The lights are effective in temperatures ranging from -40ºC to +55ºC and have an IP65 rating.
