Specialist Hearing Research Facilities
IAC designs and manufactures hearing research facilities for some of the most renowned research universities in the world including University of London's Institute of Laryngology.
In such research establishments, ultra-quiet environments are often required. The specifications for these environments often exceed normal environmental sound attenuation requirements, -10dB to -25dB in certain instances.
IAC is one of only a handful of manufacturers worldwide with the necessary acoustical engineering capabilities to build such facilities. It is for this reason that the world leading hearing researcher Professor David Kemp, University College London, commissioned IAC to design and build one of the world’s most sophisticated hearing research facilities. As a result scientists and researchers at the Ear Institute – Centre for Audiology Research are able to:
- Conduct experiments in an acoustically controlled environment
- Further research hearing impairment
- Improve hearing aid technology
- Develop innovative diagnostic tools for hearing disability
- Improve sound quality and speech understanding for the hearing impaired
- Conduct psychological and behavioural research
IAC also supplies Audiology Booths and Audiology Rooms for non-clinical use such as psychological and bio-acoustic research. IAC’s audiology facilities are suitable for a wide range of applications that include:
- Hospitals to improve sound quality for the hearing impaired
- Universities to conduct experiments and research into hearing impairment
- Manufacturing companies to test new products
IAC manufactures a wide range of audiology rooms and booths in many different sizes and configurations. A range of almost 30 different standard rooms and booths are available, with many in stock.
Bespoke Audiology Booths
IAC also design and build bespoke booths and rooms for any special requirement. IAC supplies all audiology booths and rooms with cabling, silent ventilation and specialist paint finishes which make for a pleasing and comfortable working environment.
