Education

The aim of Building Bulletin 93: Acoustic Design of Schools (BB93) and Building Bulletin 101: Ventilation of School Buildings (BB101) is to provide a comprehensive guide for architects, building control bodies, building services engineers, clients, and others involved in the design of new school buildings. These regulations have heralded a new era in school construction.

Since the new building regulations came into effect, architects need to evaluate the sound insulation profile of the school building envelope. This places emphasis on roof construction, including rain noise, external walls, ventilation openings, external doors and windows. All these factors affect the way noise travels and reverberates within the final structure.

IAC works in partnership with building contractors, acoustic consultants, architects and building services engineers to ensure that new builds and refurbishments comply with these new regulations. The introduction of these regulations around the construction of schools is good news for students, teachers and administrative staff.
