IAC Aviation completes Rolls-Royce Brasil test bed upgrade in record time
Against an extremely tight schedule on their busiest production test facility, IAC Aviation has successfully completed the refurbishment and upgrade to Rolls-Royce Brasil’s AE3007, R-R Tay, Viper and Spey turbofan engine test bed in São Paulo.
Stefano Grattarola, Rolls-Royce Brasil’s Operations Manager said: “Rolls-Royce Brasil’s Turbo Jet/Fan Test Cell is the most important asset and has been delivering over a thousand successful engine testings over 50 years, presently operating around the clock. There was no doubt that this was one of those very challenging projects where we had no room for failures or delays. Today we can celebrate and congratulate IAC for having delivered the required improvements and upgrades on time and the reasons for this success were the ideal developed solution, very well planned and implemented by highly skilled and engaged personnel.”
Graham Lavis, Project Manager said: ”Having recently completed an extensive upgrade and refurbishment of Rolls-Royce Brasil’s GEM facility, it was good to get invited back to work on their most important test facility. This demonstrates the confidence that Rolls-Royce Brazil has in getting another on budget, on schedule project from IAC.”
These works included an upgrade to the engine lifting and locking system which included a new hydraulic system, shoot bolts and a thrust calibration and control system.
