Audiology Room refurbishments and relocations save £s

This autumn two London hospitals and a Midlands school have opted to relocate and refurbish their IAC Audiology Rooms to make their budgets go further.

“IAC audiology testing facilities come into their own in times of tight budgets and public spending cuts, thanks to our patented ‘Moduline’ demountable design and ease of refurbishment,” says Ian Rich, Product Manager Audiology. With walls and ceilings constructed with 100mm acoustic panels, and fitted with acoustic doors and windows, Moduline facilities are quick to construct on a ‘room within a room’ basis, with no need for disruptive wet trades on site.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital opted to relocate their IAC audiology room. During the move new finishes were introduced effectively creating a ‘brand new’ facility. The exercise took six days with minimum disruption to patients and staff.

The four-room IAC Audiology Suite within the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) on Queen’s Square in London, has recently been relocated - and for the second time since its installation. Costing 50% of a wholescale replacement, relocation is the favoured option for many where budgets are tight.

The NHNN’s Audiological Medicine department is just one of a vast array of neuro services provided at the hospital which has for example the largest Outpatients department in the country seeing around 54,000 neurological and neurosurgical patients each year in up to 50 clinics each day. The NHNN treats patients with a wide range of neurological conditions and is also a major international centre for research and training.

Woodloes Primary School on the edge of Warwick has relocated its IAC audiology facility into a new build community facility on the school campus.

Ian Rich again, “Refurbishment and relocation of audiology facilities are on the increase, they are clearly a sign of the times. Our future-proof design is unique in the market today these latest projects are just a few among the many of the world’s leading hospitals and clinics benefiting from our future-proof, high performance products. ”
