IAC LAUNCHES ‘GREEN’ VOICE-OVER BOOTH AT IBC 2005

IAC of Winchester, UK is bringing what is believed to be the world’s first ‘green’ Voice-Over Booth to Stand 11.539 at IBC 2005 in Amsterdam, 9-13 September.

Developed at IAC’s R&D facility in New York, USA, post industrial organic fibre is used as an environmentally-friendly acoustic infill within the Booth’s structural panels. The infill is sourced in the UK.

IAC Voice-Over Booths, as well as full-scale studios and editing suites etc., are all constructed using the company’s patented ‘Moduline’ system. Acoustically-rated, modular acoustic panels form the walls, floors, ceilings. Each panel is 100mm thick and filled with the green infill that itself delivers a range of ‘green’ benefits: the manufacturing process uses far less energy than the fibreglass insulation alternative and it has mostly recycled content. It is non-toxic, and fire-, fungi-, and corrosion resistant; and, importantly, it provides equivalent acoustic and thermal performance.

The Moduline panels are fabricated from steel face sheets and are acoustically and structurally joined together in a way that ensures the acoustic integrity of the Booth is maintained.

An IAC acoustic Noise-Lock® door and window are used in the Booth, all preserving the acoustic performance of the environment. The door has two sets of self-aligning magnetic seals and a bevelled floor threshold with double compression seals; the windows are either double or quadruple glazed.

The Green Booth comes with a silent ventilation system supplying 25 litres of air per second and full electrics and an access point for technical wiring. With fabric covered walls, stylish carpets and finish, the Green Voice-Over Booth is an essential requirement for any broadcasting operation.

Six standard models are available although the more usual procedure is that Booths are customised in order to best fit the customer’s premises and particular acoustic requirements.

Ian Rich is IAC’s Business Manager for Studios: “Large or small, almost every project that we have ever undertaken anywhere has included a Voice-Over Booth. With ‘green’ issues high on everyone’s agenda these days, this ‘green’ option is set to be a real winner from the outset.”

A world leader in acoustics and the design and build of broadcasting studios, IAC has been building radio and TV studios for most of the world’s top broadcasters since 1949 and has consistently led the field in terms of design innovation and turnkey capabilities.
