IAC Acoustic Doors for new £35M Greater Manchester Police HQ

IAC is undertaking a substantial contract for Acoustic Doors for the new 11,600 m² Greater Manchester Police new Divisional Headquarters under construction at the new business park, ‘Central Park’.

The doors contract was awarded to IAC by construction giant Carillion who are delivering the project for Great Manchester Police - the third largest police force in England and Wales. The building has been designed by Aedas Architects - one of the world’s largest and leading architectural design practices with 38 offices in the world.

The contract comprises 58 Acoustic Doors in mixed performances of STC-51, -53 and -61 for cells, service risers, interview rooms and consultation areas. The high quality, contemporary office building, whilst welcoming and attractive to the general public still clearly identifies with its core function as a police HQ. Aedas’ strong commitment to sustainability shows, with key features of the building including: ground source heating and cooling; photovoltaic cells; combined heat and power; and rainwater harvesting.

A great deal of activity taking place at Central Park this year and with the Metrolink arriving in 2011, it is proving to be the ideal destination for many businesses. The whole park is destined to deliver significant regeneration benefits to the people of east Manchester.

The 58 Acoustic Doors will be manufactured at IAC’s European HQ in Winchester with project delivery scheduled for February 2011.
