IAC Aviation invited onto world standards body
Fraser Alexander, Chief Engineer with IAC Aviation, has been invited to join the world’s leading standards-setting group within the Aviation Test Cells arena.
SAE International Aerospace – a global body that shares best practice and set standards for the sector – is a recognised world authority.
SAE holds 2 meetings a year, attended by less than 30 voting members and guest attendees drawn from among the world’s top manufacturers, suppliers and research institutions. Through his participation, Fraser takes the IAC Aviation heritage, technical excellence and market standing right to where it belongs - into the heart of the aero-engine testing arena. Fraser is to be the only regular representative and member from aero-engine test facility manufacturing companies in the UK.
For his first active participation, Fraser attended the meeting in Salem, Boston, USA in May for both the EG-1E Sub-Committee meeting, and the Turbine Engine Testing Working Group (TETWoG) meeting. The latter 2-day event included a tour of GE’s jet engine manufacturing plant at neighbouring Lynn in Massachusetts. At these SAE meetings, professionals meet to share knowledge, understanding and advice; so-called ‘advisory notices’ are posted, and sector-wide ‘recommendations’ made. These are then presented in papers which can be purchased freely by professionals worldwide.
The next combined meeting is scheduled for November of this year in Dallas, Texas. It will be focusing on Turboshaft and Turboprop engines with tours, including one of American Airlines maintenance facilities.
David Swartfigure, General Manager, IAC Aviation said: “Fraser’s membership of this gathering of the sector’s elite professionals illustrates the recognition and respect IAC enjoys among its peers globally. We look forward to making a significant contribution to the knowledge base, and to the kudos such involvement will bring.”
