IAC Football Team wins league

The aptly-named ‘IAC Real Mildred’ 6-a-side football team has won the local Azzurri League football competition in Winchester.
The team, consisting of employees from Winchester Operations and Acoustics teams, joined the league for the first time this year, and proved to be a real challenge for the competition.
Only a few weeks into the competition, the IAC team had scored a total of 32 goals, (having only let 6 goals into their own net), and had not lost a single game.
The team included Ian Woolf as Captain, Manager and goalkeeper; Jason Berriman; Brett Light; Paul Byrne; and Richard Boden, with Dustin Hargrave as mid-fielder and main goal scorer. It has to be said that the ageing team (the oldest, Richard Boden, being half a century old), playing against teams of much younger average age, succeeded through sheer skill, teamwork and enthusiasm rather than athleticism!
Following on from their success, ‘Real Mildred’ has now joined the Winchester 6s Elite League and, in spite of fierce competition, is currently placed second, with one game in hand.
“Come on you blues!” – ‘IAC’ blue, of course!
