IAC MANUFACTURING IS RAISING ITS GAME IN UK AND CHINA
Demand for IAC’s products at home and overseas is rising, and with it the pressure to manufacture our excellent products more quickly with no compromise to quality.
At the manufacturing facility within our European HQ in Winchester, The Operations team has made three key improvements in a bid to meet the demand for faster through-put.
In an upgrade to the panel line, a hanging gantry now positions tools above the work area so improving their speedy access while obviating risks from air lines on the floor. In addition, investment in a new crimping machine is set to speed louvre manufacture through-put. The steep rise in contracts within IAC’s Power division has necessitated a whole-scale revamping of the materials management system for the heavy shop, spearheaded by Matt Riley and Mark McCabe.
Mike Campbell said: “Over the past 4 years we have reviewed and reworked procedures across all sections of the shop floor and our output has quadrupled in some areas. We now regularly share our expertise with our manufacturing partners in Eastern Europe and China as demand increases.”
At present Mike is supervising the manufacture of three GT25 gas turbine genset enclosures in China for GE Italy. Each mammoth enclosure measures 14m high, 12m wide and 30m long and is destined for an oil and gas refinery in Tunisia. Mike again: “These enclosures are among the largest we have ever manufactured, and our relationship with GE now augurs well for further contracts in the future.”
