IAC America wins $4.3M silencers contract from USA Navy
IAC America has been awarded a $4.3M contract for all of the gas turbine intake silencers for the DD(X)-class of destroyers being built for the USA Navy.
In what is a great win for IAC America, the contract cites them as the sole silencer supplier for all the Navy’s ships to be built over the next 10 years.
The USA government defence budget is to finance the building of a minimum of 7 DD(X)-class ships and each ship will be fitted with IAC silencers worth $600K each.
IAC America’s Jonathan Weinstein, Research and Development Director, drew on the expertise of two of our technical experts here in the UK during negotiations. Mike Campbell, Operations Director and Russell Hagerty travelled to the US on several occasions to work with Jonathan as negotiations progressed.
Commenting on this development Brian Quarendon, CEO and Group President, said: “Instances of such Group-wide technical co-operation are increasing. In this case there is no doubt that it has been invaluable in helping IAC America to secure this substantial order.”
“We were pleased to support IAC America in clinching this contract” said Mike Campbell. “In the end, it took 11 long months of design changes, iterations, and negotiations to satisfy what were stringent customer requirements. Nathan Clute and his Silencer Systems team over there are becoming significant players in the USA industrial and power silencer market as we are with the IAC Boet Stopson brand in Europe.”
