HRH Prince Edward officiates at IAC Audiology Suite opening
HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, has officially opened the Audiology Facility at St Mark’s Hospital in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The £117,000 facility contains two state of the art audiology test rooms designed and installed by IAC - these have replaced the 20-year-old testing room. (Handed over in June 2006 – see release dated 29 June 2006 for full details of the suite.)
The Prince unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion and was taken on a tour of the unit. He congratulated all those who had worked on the project. He said he hoped it would be 'well used by the people of Maidenhead'.
Maidenhead MP Theresa May and the Borough's mayor were among the guests including one-year-old Helen Cooper, who like many outpatients, no longer needs to travel to Windsor for paediatric treatment.
St Mark's chief audiologist Pauline Warner said: "It's being a long project and this is a nice way to end it. I was very keen that the people involved in the project were here today…"
The new facility has been constructed using IAC’s patented Moduline panel system, to a stringent acoustic specification. These two fully air conditioned audiometric test rooms are located within what was formerly the Pharmacy suite. Constructed on a room-within-a-room basis, within a completely refurbished ground floor traditional-build shell, with good solid external and partition walls.
Ian Rich, IAC’s Sales Manager, and Tony Argyrou, Medical Project Manager attended the official opening by Prince Edward. Tony Argyrou said: "It was altogether a great day, enjoyed by all the staff and visitors. The Prince took quite an interest in our facility and I have the opportunity to explain to him various aspects of the design and acoustic performance."
