STEEL NOISE
BARRIERS GAIN FAVOUR FOR GUARANTEED PERFORMANCE
IAC's
recent acceptance into membership of the UK's Fencing Contractors' Association
is clear reflection of the sector's recognition of the superior performance
of steel acoustic barriers over wooden counterparts for noise control
applications.
There is rising demand
for effective, strong and lasting noise barriers along our motorways,
railway routes and airport perimeters. This augurs well for IAC's state-of-the-art
acoustic steel barrier technology as it offers the specifiers an alternative
to traditional systems. IAC's state-of-the-art acoustic steel barrier
technology, offers "certified" acoustic performance, which far
exceeds current legislative requirements. Members of the Fencing Contractors
Association (FCA) have to date mainly specified wooden fencing.
The recent merger
of the Environmental Noise Barriers Association (ENBA), which represents
noise barrier installers, manufacturers and suppliers, with the FCA, makes
IAC's entry on the scene particularly timely. Further good news is the
fact that the British Standards Institution is currently working on new
methods of assessing barriers' performance. This is a plus for IAC,
whose acoustic performance criteria are already the highest in the industry
giving the company a head start over the competition.
Richard Lissenborough,
Project Manager, IAC Industrial, says: "We've long wanted to be a
FCA member, but could never get a look in because our barriers are steel,
and not wood. So the ENBA merger is a watershed moment for us. For the
first time IAC now has huge potential for bidding barrier projects with
contractors formerly using wooden alternatives. With the valuable endorsement
of the FCA, we're aiming to secure considerable market share and in a
short time-frame. Our steel barriers' proven acoustic performance, long
life and demountability will, I'm sure, prove attractive to many specifiers."
Wendy Baker is Chief
Executive of the FCA: "We are pleased to have IAC as a member company
of the FCA. Their commitment to improving quality and standards in the
manufacture of noise barriers has enabled us also to approve their membership
of the Environmental Noise Barrier Association."
IAC's acoustic steel
barriers are available in galvanised steel, aluminium, PPC and vinyl-coated
steel finishes .
