IAC AVIATION WINS BOND PEARCE INNOVATION AWARD 2003

Innovation is nothing new to us here at IAC but it was great to win the Bond Pearce Innovation Award for 2003. The Award forms part of the Hampshire Business Awards and we were up against some pretty stiff competition.

Our winning entry was our mobile helicopter engine testing rig, or Universal Test Trailer (UTT) as it is known, which we designed for the MOD.

The main benefit of the UTT is that it can be transported to any conflict environment by land, sea or air where it will provide independent, stand alone turbo shaft helicopter engine test capability.

We also designed and built a sophisticated and intuitive Data Acquisition System for the rig, which prevents operator error and optimises test procedures.

Orders are already in place from both British Army and Navy helicopter fleets with the first commissioning due at RAF Benson later this month. Patrick Fourcampre-Maye is product manager for the UTT: "When they called out the winner it was one of those ‘yes!’ moments! Great for all the team who really deserve this recognition."
