IAC NAMED ‘NATIONAL CHAMPION’ IN UK’S TOP ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS IAC has been named National Champion in the UK’s Green Apple Environment Awards for Commerce and Industry! We scooped the prize in a ceremony staged at the Houses of Parliament in London on 6 November. Companies from all across the UK were competing in the awards, now deemed among the most prestigious in the UK, awarded in recognition of outstanding environmental performance. We won the award for our multi, aero-engine test facility designed and built for defence establishment DARA in Fareham, Hampshire. As the turnkey project was to occupy a brown field site adjoining an Area of Special Scientific Interest the onus was on us to minimise and monitor environmental impact during every stage of construction. The end result was a facility able to do the job of two conventional test cells, with reduced engine test time, fuel and water consumption and emissions. (This project also won the Bond Pearce Innovation Award in the Hampshire Business Awards 2003.) Brian Quarendon, Managing Director, said: “I am delighted that IAC has been recognised in this way particularly in view of the high standard of all the entries. Innovation is key and that’s what we’re good at – this Award adds to the great achievements of all our staff both here and overseas.” For further information on any Aviation product please contact Dave Greggor, Sales & Marketing Manager - Aviation Division, on +44 (0) 1962 873048 or email daveg@iacl.co.uk |

IAC BENEFITS PASSENGERS AT GATWICK Following BAA's decision to upgrade pier work at London’s Gatwick Airport, IAC were contacted by their design team to assist with the new project. Along each pier leading out to parked aircraft are a series of nodes that act as boarding and disembarking areas. IAC’s brief was to equip each node (7 in total) with natural ventilation while at the same time protecting passengers from aircraft engine noise. To achieve this, IAC designed inlet and outlet acoustic ventilators each equipped with LP Louvres, MS Splitters and Dampers. The outlet ventilator (pictured) was fabricated off-site, as a pre-assembled module, and then craned into position on the roof of the node. Off-site fabrication is also used by other contractors working for BAA and now at IAC we can confirm that we have successfully adopted this approach with the team. 3-YEAR CONTRACT WIN WITH NUAIRE Nuaire Limited is one of the world’s largest ventilation product manufacturers renowned for quality and innovation. Nuaire, having been purchasing IAC circular attenuators and splitter packs for the past three years, recently asked existing suppliers to re-tender for a new and larger 3-year contract. Although IAC's tender was not the lowest, Nuaire decided that, based on past performance and in the interests of continuation of supply, their best interests would be served by remaining with IAC. In this OEM market place, good customer/supplier relationships can take a long time to develop. We also recognise that price, quality and in particular, fast delivery, are critical in satisfying customers' requirements - all factors which we place high on our agenda. SULZER PUMPS CHOOSES IAC ENCLOSURES IAC have this month completed the first of a series of major contracts with Sulzer Pumps (UK) Ltd, part of the global Sulzer operation. This first contract worth almost £1/4 m saw the supply of 6 substantial, weatherproof, acoustic enclosures for oil pipeline pumps and gearboxes. The complete turnkey enclosures incorporate lighting, filtered ventilation systems and fire detection instrumentation. They are also designed to withstand specified wind and seismic loads. Sulzer’s purchase of IAC products heralds a whole new approach to acoustic management within the company which is a leading provider of innovative centrifugal pumping products to a number of IAC’s target markets including the oil and gas industry, hydrocarbon processing and power generation. Philip Brown, Power Business Manager here at IAC said: “The performance of these acoustic enclosures is impressive. The fact that IAC can tailor make and supply the whole turnkey project streamlines the installation process and this is certainly a plus from Sulzer’s point of view. Sharing Sulzer’s target market as we do, such team working makes good commercial sense and we’re aiming to ensure we remain a key supplier to Sulzer of engineered noise control solutions” For further information on power generation products please contact Phil Brown, Business Manager, UK Power, on +44 (0) 1962 873053, mobile 0780 1684443 or email philb@iacl.co.uk For details of any of the products mentioned, please click here, for a direct link to our website. |
