Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center keeps cool and keeps quiet
Bronx, NY (December 7)--IAC has provided a Noishield Barrier System to Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center to protect local neighbors from plant noise.
The IAC Noishield Model R Barrier Systems are designed to protect communities against noise generated by air conditioners, pumps, compressors, chillers and fans where restricted airflow caused by an all solid barrier could be detrimental. The plant room serving the Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center had a noise level that exceeded community noise ordinance at several locations along the property boundary.
By incorporating the IAC Noishield Model R Louvers into a barrier system, the acoustic requirement could be achieved without compromising the airflow. There was an average of 11 dBA reduction realized at the required locations along property line.
IAC’s Noishield Model R Barrier Systems are designed and pre-engineered with integrated structural steel and support systems. The louvers can be 4”, 6”, 12” or 24” thick depending on airflow and acoustic requirements and they measure from 2’ to 8’ wide, and between 2’ to 12’ high. The louvers can be constructed from galvanized steel, aluminum or stainless steel and can be powder coated to match existing building trim or décor. The louvers can also be banked to achieve various height and configurations. Rated for transmission loss and pressure drop the louvers are tested in our Aero-Acoustic Laboratory.
The Noishield Model R Barrier System for the Medical Centre included 16 individual louvers measuring approx 5’ wide x 6’ high, structural supports and finish trim pieces. They were all powder coated to blend with the look and feel of surrounding buildings and environment.
The final result was another successful turnkey barrier application that delivered the acoustic and aesthetic expectations of the customer without compromising the operation of the mechanical equipment.
