IAC Acoustic Doors for the USA's first 'green' film studio

Bronx, NY (September 17)--IAC Noise-Lock Acoustic Doors are making a significant contribution to the USA's first ever "green" independent film studio facility, Second Line Stages in New Orleans.

The Second Line Stages film studio was purpose-built to comply with the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver certification construction standard, which is awarded for superior environmental performance. This is the nation's first 'sustainable' studio and it operations are designed to enable cleaner, smarter, more environmentally-responsible physical movie production practices.

The Studio complex occupies 37,000 sq ft of total soundstage space; and includes a 5-storey office tower. A training and resource center for the film industry, the Studios are creating a 'green collar' workforce able to implement best practice at other production sites throughout the region.

IAC provided a turnkey solution of 19 Noise-Lock Swing doors (STC 43 to STC 54); 2 Super Noise-Lock Swing Doors; and a giant Vertical Power-Operated Slide Door (16'10" wide and 19'10" high).

Traffic noise in the area Lower Garden District where the film studio is located is considerable so the architect specified a STC 54 requirement for the vertical powered slide door. IAC was able to meet the architects need to custom engineer and construct this vertical slide door and achieved the desired acoustical rating.

All IAC doors are produced as engineered systems; each complete system - including leaf, split-frame, seals, hinges, and latching hardware - is factory assembled and performance-tested in our own National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program-accredited, aero-acoustic laboratory.

IAC has been a member of the US Green Building Council since 2008. We are a manufacturer whose products are guaranteed to contribute to sustainable building design by meeting any project's acoustical requirements. IAC is committed to protecting the global environment and the world's natural resources.
