IAC America accepted into U.S. Green Building Council membership
Bronx, NY (June 1)--Committed to making the world a quieter and greener place, IAC, global leader in noise control products and systems, is now a US Green Building Council Member.
As part of our ongoing corporate commitment to respect the global environment and our natural resources, our Noise-Lock® Windows and VisionWall are currently undergoing acoustic testing in their new ‘greener’ formats.
To be considered green, a building must show considerate attention to resource efficiency, indoor air and environmental quality, energy efficiency and water conservation. Of all the materials that can make a building greener, high performance glass is one that is particularly effective. Whether it is to deliver energy savings to your project or to improve the indoor environment, IAC’s Noise-Lock® Windows and VisionWall can assist with those needs.
In order to contribute to today’s ‘green’ movement, we have changed the construction of these window products, by incorporating acoustical fill material with low VOCs, recycled high strength aluminum and recycled steel. Our VisionWall is currently undergoing four rounds of acoustical testing with these changes.
The ‘green building’ movement is a modern-day revolution that began nearly 15 years ago. It has had a tremendous impact on the way buildings are now designed and constructed.
To serve as a rating system of green building practices, The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, known as LEED, was established by the US Green Building Council. Our recent product upgrades are to ensure that our acoustic windows and VisionWall qualify for these ratings that our customers are now increasingly seeking.
“One such recent customer was a Radio Station that wanted to achieve a LEED certification,” says Anita Thompkins, Product Manager. “We were able to work with their architects in the design phase and help them maximize the LEED credit category of indoor environment with the use of our new ‘green’ IAC Noise-Lock® windows.”
To significantly increase the daylight and natural views of the broadcast rooms and performance space we installed two IAC Noise-Lock® Windows in each room. These broadcast rooms were positioned adjacent to one another and some were positioned 20-30 feet deep into the interior of the space, which was formerly quite dark. The result was that each broadcast room was able to receive natural light. This is now a much more pleasant workspace, providing occupants with a connection between indoor space and the outdoors.
