IAC full-glass Noise-Lock Doors for Art Institute of California
 Bronx, NY (August 20)--IAC America has supplied four full-glass Noise-Lock door assemblies for sound studios within the Art Institute of California, in San Francisco.
Our Engineering and Research teams have developed this full-glass assembly with excellent noise reduction, particularly in the low frequency range which is popular with studios today. IAC full-glass door assemblies are preferred by designers because, despite more than half of the door being glass, there is no compromise to the acoustic isolation to doors provide.
On this project IAC America worked with Walters-Storyk Design Group, the leading New York architects who specialize in studio design. The bespoke solution comprised 4 full-glass, single leaf, acoustic doors each measuring 3 ft. x 7 ft, and positioned between control rooms and live rooms and on the isolation rooms.
 The doors had varied configurations and two different sound ratings: three were STC 51 and the other, STC 53. One of the STC 51 doors was a special order with a 20-minute UL fire rating, and a 24”x 54” Vision-Lite window. The other two had 24” x 66” Vision-Lite windows.
Both the STC 51 and STC 53 full-glass assembly doors are laboratory-certified and already field-proven in installations worldwide. Optional finishes include choices from among 62 different wood veneers along with long-life paint and metal.
The sound studios at the Art Institute are now providing an excellent study space for their students learning theoretical concepts as well as technical skills. Those pursuing an Audio Production degree cover audio engineering, music theory, electronics, and recording techniques.
IAC’s certified, full-glass acoustic Noise-Lock doors range extends up to STC 55 while, as a company, IAC America also constructs entire, ‘room within a room’ acoustic Studios and Music Practice Rooms from our AccuTone2 product line. These are in use by many top broadcasters, schools, conservatoires and universities around the world.
