IAC America makes food store neighbourhood-friendly
Bronx, NY (May 5) -- Harris Teeter-Washington, DC, a neighbourhood fresh food market, is protecting its neighbouring community from noise thanks to IAC America.
Harris Teeter operates 168 stores across the southern states. It vouchsafes not only to nourish the communities it serves but also to be a good ‘neighbour’. So they resolved to make their new outlet in Washington both aesthetically-pleasing and acoustically-friendly.
Along with their architects, Bonduarant Associates, they joined forces with Benchmark Construction, Acoustical Design Collaborative Ltd (ADC) and IAC America (through TechStar Industries), to achieve their objectives.
Strict acoustic and aesthetic requirements for sites such as these protect the local community from noise from plant such as air conditioners, pumps, compressors and fans. Noise analysis was carried out to determine the extent of the noise treatment required. On the basis of the results IAC America then designed and constructed an unobtrusive IAC Noishield® Roof Barrier and Cladding Panel System. TechStar Industries then installed the solution.
All IAC America’s Noishield® Roof Top Barrier and Cladding Systems are designed and pre-engineered to include structural steel and support systems. This installation consisted of panels and doors for required maintenance access. The barrier was erected to optimise sound transmission loss and provide sound absorption in a durable and attractive wall system in visual harmony with the surroundings. The factory-finished panels were 5” thick and sound absorptive on one side. To this Tech-Star applied a powder-coated, perforated screen wall to match the trim of the existing building.
