 IAC America shields Los Angeles Metropolitan communities from railroad noise.
Bronx, NY (October 2) --Two communities affected by railroad noise near LAX Airport in California are enjoying quieter lives thanks to a FS Noishield Barrier from IAC America.
Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Metro Green-Line light rail transportation system runs south near LAX Airport. The noise generated from the rail cars was affecting the residents of Hawthorn and Segundo California.
 Woodward Clyde Engineering selected IAC FS Noishield Barrier panels as the noise control product of choice for the elevated structures in these two communities. The IAC FS Noishield Barrier panels were ideal for this application due to their acoustic performance, their light weight construction and ease of installation. IAC America also supplied IAC SFS Noishield Septum/Barrier panels to be installed between Metro Green-line tracks in one area to provide absorptive treatment for both sides of the barrier system. These were to protect an office building immediately adjacent to the track structure.
IAC, in partnership with the IAC representative CE Pickup, the acoustical consultant - Woodward Clyde Engineering and Metro Builders & Engineers, together designed and installed the Barrier System. Approximately ¾ mile long x 20’ high the Barrier System was installed from a high rail truck using a small hoist. There was down time for the transportation authority.
 Each 5” thick Barrier panel is self-draining and the absorptive side is rated NRC 1.05. The rugged panels are easy to install and available in 24” and 18” heights up to 16’ long. The panels go through a five-step cleaning process and are factory-finished with tough, thermosetting polyester powder coat available in hundreds of colors and patterns.
The Metro Green-Line Light Rail project won a design award for California cities. The residents and city officials in both communities were very pleased with the results achieved by the IAC Barrier System.
