Sam's Club opts for Accutone2 Audiology Booth

Bronx, NY (September 6)--Sam’s Club, one of the USA’s largest retail suppliers and part of the Walmart Group, has opted for IAC America’s audiometric testing booths as it launches into the $500 million-a-year hearing aid dispensing market.

On deciding to enter the market, of the range of products Sam’s would need to facilitate audiometric testing, one of these was an audiometric testing booth. As a recognized and respected global leader in noise control products and systems, IAC Inc. was called in to design, deliver and install a proto-type audiometric booth within a tight time frame of just four weeks. The Booth would then be evaluated at Sam’s display center in Arkansas.

IAC built a custom AccuTone2 Model 40A5-SP complete with an IAC Noise-Lock Acoustic Door.

This booth has some unique features: the interior height at 8’1” is higher than standard to better suit Sam’s stores’ high ceilings; and the height of the roof apron was increased to 8”in order to conceal all the mechanical equipment on the roof; it was also equipped with an accent chair rail, corner shelves for speakers; and the floor height - normally 6” - was reduced to 4-1/2” to better accommodate the ADA-mandated floor ramp.

An additional new feature was added inside the booth: a Modesty Panel to conceal the entire customer wiring inside the booth, leaving just the headset exposed.

The following week, various employees of the Wal-Mart Group undertook a walk-through. Some design revisions were noted that would both better serve the technicians and better accommodate the audiometric test equipment they had opted for.

One week later IAC received the eagerly awaited call from Mr. James D. Karel/Senior Manager of GIS & Supply Chain Fixture at Sam’s. He confirmed the final IAC Inc. Booth design fitted their requirements and would be the blueprint for all their facilities.

Dominic Nardi, Product Manager, Audiology then supervised the development of a custom crate for the transport of the Accutone2 Audiology Booth components for their on-site assembly. The crate allows the installer to see into all compartments and to unpack components as needed, without breaking open the entire crate. This is an example of IAC’s commitment to excellence at every stage – IAC goes the extra mile.

Congratulations to the Architectural Group and the Medical and Life Sciences team for a job well done!
