Welcome to our latest e-bulletin
Seasons Greetings
Welcome to this final e-newsletter for 2007. I would like to thank all of our customers and representatives for their extraordinary efforts – together we are ‘Making the World a Quieter Place’.
This has been an excellent year and our new strategies are taking shape. We look to 2008 with high expectations as we build and perfect our turnkey approach to acoustic solutions. We will begin to enter new markets and develop new products to strengthen our position in the marketplace throughout the coming year as we continue to improve our products and customer service, and reduce lead times.
With our best wishes that 2008 will be filled with health, happiness, peace and joy, and that continued success find you in all that you do.
Happy Holidays!

US CAPITOL VISITORS CENTER IN WASHINGTON GETS THE IAC DOORS TREATMENT
IAC America recently installed over forty (40) Noise-Lock® doors in The House and The Senate expansion facilities in an area that is completely below ground.
The IAC Noise-Lock® Doors were specially engineered to accommodate a highly decorative and sophisticated wood cladding. The cladding was fixed to the doors on location so that it would not interfere with the doors’ operation. These doors also had special finishes on all of the factory-installed builders’ hardware. All this created a need for special attention to handling and installation to preserve the integrity of the finished product.
In addition, IAC America provided and installed its new Trackwall® NIC Series 854, acoustically rated STC 64, NIC 60 and NNIC 64. The panels of this acoustic partition wall are 8” thick and are located in a lower level adjacent to the production studios.
The construction project was a huge undertaking that started with the ground breaking in August of 2002 followed by a year for the excavations. Construction of the Center began in 2003. Inclusion of the IAC products took place over a two-year period working closely with the global design practice RTKL of Washington DC who also designed the building envelope. The interior general contractor was Grunley Construction. The Center is scheduled to be finished early 2008.
Many thanks to IAC America’s Access Systems team and to technical representative, Richard von Lange of TechStar Industries, for his efforts in completing this project.

STYLISH ACOUSTIC LOUVER SCREEN FOR REISS FASHION HOUSE
IAC has met a demanding architectural brief in the supply of two large, acoustic louver screens for the London HQ of Reiss fashion house.
A leading designer and retailer of men’s and women’s prêt a porter, Reiss has 30 outlets in London and others around the world, including the USA, Europe and the Middle East.
The bespoke acoustic louver screens at their flagship location form part of a refurbishment programme for the entire building, including the air conditioning system. Architects Squire and Partners required that the larger rooftop louver screen was inclined at 15 degrees and incorporated mitered corner blade sections to match the adjacent mansard roofing. The louver blades were also inverted to prevent ‘line of sight’ through the screen from nearby offices and residences.
The screens measure 75 feet by 16 feet and 23 feet by 30 feet and are staggered over two roof levels. Gary Dawson, IAC Business Manager, said: “Our design successfully interpreted the brief, to provide effective acoustic treatment but also architecturally sympathetic screening of the plant rooms. Crucially we maintained good air flow around the plant in the process.”

EUROPEAN COURT OF JUSTICE FITS 120 IAC ACOUSTIC DOORS
It’s going to be a comfortable, quiet environment for justice to be delivered at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg in Europe thanks to 120 acoustic doors from IAC.
This sizeable contract has been won by IAC Boet Stopson in France to supply 120 STC53 doors (96 single-leaf and 14 double-leaf). The noise performance of the doors range is from 42 to 51 dBA with both smoke and fire ratings. They are to be placed throughout the building. Manufacturing is underway at present, with staggered delivery up until March next year.
Vincent Masse is the Managing Director at IAC Boet Stopson in Lille in northern France. “This is one of the largest door orders IAC Boet Stopson has ever received, and testament to our effectiveness in introducing the IAC product range into Europe since we joined the IAC Group 5 years ago.”

IAC AMERICA SCORES WITH NOISHIELD® FS/S BARRIER SYSTEMS AT PG&E
IAC America has just completed the supply and installation of IAC Noishield® FS/S Barriers for PG&E in San Francisco, CA. IAC is providing complete turnkey services including the design, engineering, foundations, structural support steel, panels, and installation.
The IAC Noishield® FS/S barrier systems optimize sound transmission loss and sound absorbing properties in a durable and attractive wall system in harmony with the community. According to PG&E, engineer John Dang (Ocean Avenue end user): "I think the green finish looks great! It seems to work so far; and no complaints from the neighbors." The 16-foot high barrier is designed to protect the community from unwanted transformer noise.
Thanks to the IAC Architectural Team’s Acoustic Treatments Group and IAC technical representative Ed Basanese of West General LLC for a job well done!

IAC AMERICA AND LAWRENCE HALL ARE BUILDING A BETTER COMMUNITY
An IAC Noishield® Roof Sound Barrier Systems has been installed for Lawrence Hall Youth Services in Chicago to protect the local communities from noise from the air conditioners, pumps, compressors and fans.
Lawrence Hall Youth Services is a non-profit child welfare agency designed to improve the community by developing the self worth, knowledge and skills of their youth to lead independent and productive lives. Together IAC and Lawrence Hall are making the community a better place.
IAC Noishield® Roof-Top Barrier Systems are designed and pre-engineered to include structural steel and support systems. The panels are 5” thick and sound absorptive on one side. The panels are factory finished using a polyester powder coating for weather protection in exterior applications and are available in over 100 colors. The light-weight panels are two-foot high and stack vertically to achieve any height and configuration.
The roof-top barrier includes more than 50 individual panels which can be removed for access to major equipment. The system also included an IAC Noise-Lock® door for periodic access to the equipment for maintenance purposes.
The project was successfully completed on time and within budget, through effective management and field coordination of the three parties: the structural steel provider; the IAC Technical Representative, Mr. Terry Abell of O’Neill Engineered Systems; and the Acoustic Treatments Group within the IAC Architectural Products team.

THE ABC’S OF SCHOOL NOISE CONTROL – MINNESOTA SCHOOLS USE IAC SOUND ENCLOSURES
Schools in Fridley, Minnesota are utilizing IAC America’s FS/S Noishield® Barrier Panels to quiet and control chiller noise.
The ground level enclosures for several schools within the district were three sided and approximately six panels high using both 2’-0” (609.6 mm) high and 1’-6” (457 mm) high panels, 5 inches (127 mm) thick and absorptive on one side.
Each site was custom-configured based on the unique equipment layout and included foundation and structural support steel design. Each barrier system was designed with a single and/or double leaf Noise-Lock® Sound Control access door for maintenance. In the event of major equipment failure, the panels are removable for easy access to undertake repairs.
IAC America, with the help of O’Neill Engineered Systems, coordinated the communications between the school district, the schools themselves and the installation services. IAC America undertook the design, manufacturing and shipping and individual packaging, and all in sequence in order to expedite the completion schedule.
Our thanks go to IAC America’s Architectural/Access Systems teams and IAC technical representative, Chris Depies of O'Neill Engineered Systems, for their combined effort in completing this successful project.

THE DOOR TO SUCCESS AT WORLD-RENOWNED SHEPPERTON STUDIOS
Shepperton Studios, favorite of the British film industry for decades, is to benefit from 2 sets of giant stage doors from IAC.
IAC is a key supplier to theaters and studios around the country, one of only a few manufacturers with sufficient shop floor capability to make giant acoustic doors for such environments.
Both sets of giant z-frame steel acoustic doors for Shepperton Studios will measure 60 inches wide by 90 inches high and yet will still be manoeuvrable by one person. As well as makers of British films for cinema, the studios are also used by filmmakers for advertising for Tescos, such as their latest ad featuring the Spice Girls dodging each other round the aisles when Christmas shopping.
The Theatres Gallery on the IAC website, features many of IAC’s theater customers including the National Theatre and the Unicorn Theatre for Children. The largest stage doors ever made at the Winchester factory were Z frame acoustic steel doors measuring 6 meters high for the auditorium of the University of Hertfordshire.
